PLAYERS RATINGS: Chelsea 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

A good win for the Blues Chelsea over Sheffield Wedensday which granted Mauricio Sarri’s team qualification to the next round.

Chelsea had a very average first half, which lacked creativity. However, they were able to score from a penalty by Willian. In the second half, Chelsea improved a lot attacking wise and scored twice by Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian.

Moreover, Gonzalo Higuain has made his debut with Chelsea, where he didn’t meet the expectations and score. However, he didn’t have enough service and creativity in the team today, but he was opening spaces for his teammates.

Chelsea players ratings:

Caballero: Made some good saves in the second half. A good match. 7/10

Azpilicueta: Won the first penalty and had a good match. 7/10

Rudiger: Underrated. 7.5/10

Andreas Christensen: Good defensive match, and great long ball, David Luiz style, that led to the second goal. 7.5/10

Alonso: Struggling to find his form of last season. 6.5/10

Kovacic: The best in the midfield. Was trying to provide some balls to Higuain. 7/10

Ampadu: Was okay. Needs more time to improve as well, e has great potential. 6.5/10

Barkley: Still not convincing as a regular Chelsea payer. 6/10

Willian: An okay match in the first 80 minutes, in addition to the penalty. However, he scored the third goal in the last minutes of the match. 8/10

Higuain: Didn’t meet the expectations in his debut. But he didn’t have enough creativity and service behind him where he had to drop to the midfield sometimes. 6.5/10

Callum Hudson-Odoi: A good match and good to see him getting more playing time. Scored an important second goal. 7.5/10

Ruben Loftus Cheek: Was lively in his side. 5/10

Oliver Giroud: Was close to scoring but a bicycle kick. 5/10

Jorginho: Came to secure the score. 5/10

Mauricio Sarri (Manager): A good match in general, with a poor first half that lacked creativity in the midfield. However, it’s understandable taking into consideration several key players such as Pedro, Hazard, Kante, and others aren’t playing. 7/10
Man of the match: Willian scored twice and gave Chelsea the win. Even though his performance in general throughout the match wasn’t his best performance.
