PLAYERS RATINGS: Man United 3-1 Arsenal

Another win for Manchester United, and another loss for Arsenal and getting knocked out of the FA Cup for the second season in a row.

Arsenal started the match with the wrong formation and with wrong tactics. WHile on the other hand, Manchester United played like the match against Tottenham Hotspurs 12 days ago, where they allowed the opponent to play their style, then react.

Manchester United have scored twice in the first half, by Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard, before Arsenal scores a goal minutes before the end of hte first half by Aubayeang. In the second half, Anthony Martial took advantage of Arsenal’s shaky defense after two injuries today, and scored the third goal.

Arsenal players ratings

Petr Cech:  Conceded twice, was able to do better. 5.5/10

Laurent Koscielny: A shaky match, especially after Sokratis left due to injury. 6/10

Sokratis: An average match. 6/10

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: Good going forward, but not a right back. Suffered from Sanchez as well. 6/10

Sead Kolasinac: Was good going forward, but caused some defensive issues for Arsenal. 6.5/10

Granit Xhaka: Made some good passes, but poor defensively. Played at a center half in the second half. 6.5/10

Lucas Torreira: Was maybe one of the best and most dangerous. 7/10

Aaron Ramsey:  Was close to scoring, but couldn’t create much, especially in the first half. Was better in the second half. 6.5/10

Alex Iwobi: Caused some problems to Ashley Young and was dangerous going forward, but wasn’t passing a lot, wasted some chances. 7/10

Alexander Lacazette: Made an assist and was close to scoring. But wasted some chances. 7/10

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Scored an important goal in the last minutes of the first half, but missed some chances as well. 7/10

Subs

Shkodran Mustafi: Couldn’t compensate Sokratis’absence. 5/10

Matteo Guendouzi: not a lot of time to play, but was trying. 5/10

Mesut Ozil: Didn’t do anything. 5/10

Unai Emery: Poor tactics and formation. However, very unlike with the injuries today. 6.5/10

 

Man United players ratings

Sergio Romero: Had a good match, couldn’t do much for the first goal from a very close range. Made several saves in the second half. 7/10

Lindelof: Was decent today. Marked Lacazette all the time and didn’t allow him to freely move. 7.5/10

Bailey: A good match. However, had some shaky moments. 7/10

Ashley Young: Had a good match, especially with Alex Iwobi’s pace. But can’t always start for Man United. 7.5/10

Luke Shaw: A good match as well, but his form declined since the beginning of this season.  7/10

Pogba: Wasn’t in his top form today, especially in the first hour, but he was behind the third goal. 7/10

Herrera:  A decent player with an extraordinary and leading mentality. Was crucial in today’s match. 7.5/10

Matic: A decent match that was winning the ball back, and controlling the midfield. 7.5/10

Lingard: Good movements and a goal through an amazing positioning. 7.5/10

Lukaku: Two assists and played well in his new role on the wing and taking advantage of the spaces. 8/10

Sanchez: What a comeback against his former team! An amazing goal and was close to score the second. 8/10

Subs: 

Martial: Scored the third goal to secure the win. 6.5/10

Rashford: Was okay, but nervous. Booked. 5/10

Jones: Came to secure the score. Not much to do anyway. 5/10

Ole Gunner Solskjaer (Manager): An amazing win and qualification, and the eighth win in a row. What win!. 8/10

 

Man of the match: Alexis Sanchez was so dangerous today and he is officially back to his top form. However, Romelu Lukau was behind the first two goals through two assists.
